Balance is a sham, but juggling balls can be a blast

Hey Reader,

Fads and fashions can tell us a bit about the vibe of the times. There was never a trend I hated more than the beige/ pastel/ soft color aesthetic that once dominated Instagram. Remember those coworking spaces with the minimalist aesthetic and boring AF “neutral tones” that were all the rage?

What that trend told me was that people were desperate for order, simplicity, and rest. And I hated it because it made it look like “all of this can be yours too”, when real life looks like an IG feed for no one, not even the influencers peddling those looks themselves.

There is no such thing as balance. There are moments of peace, there is happiness, there is calm, but balance is more aspirational than anything. It’s not static, it’s actually kinda frenetic: at any given moment you’re catching the next ball life throws at you (a work deadline), and as soon as possible, you let it go to catch the next one (making sure your kids are fed), and then the next (doomscrolling to give your brain a break from thinking even if for 10 minutes)...

If life feels like that at times, you’re not doing it wrong. In fact, you’re doing it right, considering that you get to try to make a life in the 21st century in the industrialized west, aka a booby trap for peace and harmony.

Now that I got you totally freaked you out, why am I telling you all this? I just want to remind you that expectations are setups, that everyone else’s outside is not something you should ever compare with your insides, and that if you feel like life is a scrambling mad dash — you are right, many times it is.

The key to preserving your sanity is not trying to do it all perfectly at once, but rather having your attention where it really matters today.

Maybe today your neighbor needs you to help them move a big piece of furniture, so instead of hitting the gym, you call that your workout for the day.

Maybe you just sit your butt outside and chat on the phone with your bestie instead of running errands. Why not?

Life isn’t about achieving balance—it’s about finding your rhythm. Juggling is a skill, not a state of being. And you’re getting better at it every single day. And no matter how good you get, it’s always going to be messy, imperfect, and often overwhelming. Oh well. That is not a problem to be solved. It’s just a life being lived.

So the next time you’re tempted to compare your wonderfully chaotic life to someone else’s highlight reel, take a deep breath and remind yourself: you’re not failing—you’re living. And living is rarely beige or perfectly peaceful—it’s vibrant, raw, and deeply human.

Just saying all this because juggling seems to be on full speed for many people right now, and I thought that you might need to know that you’re freakin rocking it!

With courage, truth, and infinite love,

P.S. For an Instagram feed that is nothing but organized and beige, follow me here.

I don’t believe in magic, but I know that it works!

Magic is not a belief system, it’s a practice that works. Don’t believe me? Come try it out. If it doesn’t work, you lose nothing. But if it does… your dream life is about to begin!

Hi Reader, Birth, death, and rebirth are the natural order of life. They’re not optional. They’re not metaphors. They are Reality—with a capital R. Everything that lives follows this rhythm.People. Plants. Animals. Ecosystems. Beliefs. Movements. Organizations. Even economies. And yet, we’ve built a world that clings to only one part of the cycle: birth and growth. The rise. The expansion. The illusion of limitless “more.” We try to skip the death part entirely. We pretend endings are failures....

Dear Reader, Two days ago, around 10 a.m., I stepped outside and looked up at the sky.She looked unreal. Not metaphorically—literally.A perfect crescent moon, drawn with such precision it felt like someone had painted her there.Hanging in the South, her round edge facing East. So flawless, so still. And she’d be gone by the weekend. Something about that moment hit me.Staring at that moon—the same one I’ve been looking at for half a century—every cell in my body whispered a truth I couldn’t...

Hey Reader, Have you ever found yourself completely shocked and pissed off when someone does the exact opposite of what they are supposed to stand for? Maybe it was the feminist leader who made blatantly sexist comments in a staff meeting. Or the director of a financial empowerment nonprofit who turned out to be stealing money. Or the spiritual guide who preached integrity and alignment, and turned out to be involved in some sleazy scandal. It doesn’t just feel wrong—it feels personal. You...
